Nigeria Suffers Heavy 4-0 Defeat to Sudan in CHAN Championship

Sudan dominated from start to finish on Tuesday, thrashing Nigeria 4-0 in their African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group D encounter at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro, Tanzania.

Sudan’s momentum was evident early on, with an own goal from Nigeria’s Leonard Ngenge in the 25th minute giving them a 1-0 lead. Walieldin Khidir doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 44th minute, putting Sudan in a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time.

Abdelrazig Omer Yagoub extended the lead in the 68th minute, before scoring again just three minutes later to seal the emphatic victory. Nigeria struggled to break through the Sudanese defence, with their second-half efforts proving fruitless.

The comprehensive win sends Sudan to the top of Group D with four points, ahead of Senegal, who also have four points but a lower goal difference. Congo is third with two points.

After losing their opening match 1-0 to Senegal, Nigeria now face a must-win fixture against Congo on August 19 to revive their qualification hopes.
