British Council Raises IELTS Fees for Second Time in 2024

The British Council Nigeria has announced a second increase in the prices of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in 2024. This adjustment is in response to concerns about the fluctuating exchange rates of the Nigerian Naira against other foreign currencies.
An update on the Council’s website on Thursday attributed the new rates to “prevailing market dynamics” and the increased costs associated with the delivery of their exams. The revised prices for the IELTS range of tests will be effective from March 1.
Following the price adjustment, applicants opting for IELTS computer academic and general training modules will now be required to pay N266,000. Those choosing paper academic and general training modules will pay N256,500, while UK visas and immigration (UKVI) applicants are set to pay N285,500. Additionally, the cost of IELTS life skills has been revised to N249,000.
