Éric Chelle Takes Charge of Nigeria’s Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Éric Sékou Chelle as the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
In a statement issued on its website, the NFF confirmed that Chelle’s appointment was recommended by its Technical and Development Sub-Committee during a meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, 2nd January 2025. The recommendation was subsequently endorsed by the NFF Executive Committee on Tuesday, 7th January.
Chelle’s appointment takes immediate effect, and he is tasked with securing a spot for the Super Eagles at the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. The team’s next qualifying matches (Matchdays 5 and 6) are scheduled for March.
A former Mali international with five caps, Chelle has an extensive coaching resume, having managed clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran. He served as Head Coach of the Aiglons of Mali from 2022 until his dismissal on 13th June 2024.
