Adaora Re-Appointed Zenith Bank DMD

Zenith Bank Plc has officially announced the re-engagement of Dr. Adaora Umeoji as the Deputy Managing Director of the bank.

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and shareholders were informed about this decision. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has granted its approval, indicated by the “No objection” given to the re-engagement, which will be effective from August 2, 2023.

Dr. Adaora Umeoji is a seasoned banking professional with over 20 years of experience in the industry, and she previously served as the Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank. Her initial retirement was announced earlier following the CBN’s new regulatory guidelines that set tenure limits for executive board positions in banks.

These guidelines stipulate that the tenure of Executive Directors (EDs), Deputy Managing Directors (DMDs), and Managing Directors (MDs) should be subject to a maximum of ten (10) years, as approved by the Board of Directors of the banks.

Umeoji’s qualifications are exemplary, with multiple degrees and prestigious programs completed at renowned institutions like Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, and MIT Management Sloan School.

She is also a fellow of various professional bodies and has been recognized for her significant contributions to leadership and people management. In recognition of her contributions to nation-building, she was honored with the national award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Zenith Bank’s decision to re-engage Dr. Adaora Umeoji comes as a significant development, and her expertise and experience are expected to further contribute to the bank’s success and growth in the future.
