Mohbad’s Toxicology Test Ongoing in US — Coroner

The Lagos Coroner Court, sitting at Ita-Elewa in Ikorodu, has disclosed that the toxicology test on the late music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, is presently underway in the United States of America. This test aims to determine the cause of the singer’s demise.

During the ongoing inquest on Wednesday, State Counsel O. Akinde confirmed this development to Coroner Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi. Akinde highlighted that while the autopsy on the external body has been completed, the internal toxicology examination necessitates overseas analysis.

This revelation surfaced following the inquiries from the counsel representing the deceased’s father, David Fadimu, alongside David Nawoola of TNKay Music Worldwide, and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu representative, O.S.A. Aranmolaran. Their queries sought clarification on the delay in obtaining the test results.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Shotobi questioned the decision to engage a foreign toxicologist despite the existence of toxicology laboratories within Nigeria.

Previously, the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba had taken action against a 37-year-old auxiliary nurse, Fisayo Ogedengbe, arrested in connection with the controversial death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The court remanded the nurse in custody during a session on Monday, November 6. The Lagos State Police hinted at an ongoing investigation. The case is adjourned until Wednesday, November 29, awaiting advice from the DPP.
