Nigeria’s Power Generation Reaches New High, Surpasses February Record

New data from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has revealed that power generation surged to 5,713.60 megawatts (MW) on Tuesday, marking a significant increase.
The figure represents Nigeria’s highest power generation output in 2025 so far, surpassing the 5,543MW recorded on 14 February.
“This peak was recorded on Tuesday, 4 March 2025, at 21:30 hours, surpassing the previous peak generation of 5,543.20MW achieved on 14 February 2025 by 170.40MW,” the TCN stated.
Although this new peak remains 88MW below Nigeria’s all-time highest generation record of 5,801.60MW, set on 1 March 2021, it is nonetheless a notable achievement.
Additionally, the maximum daily energy generation rose to 125,542.06 megawatt-hours (MWh), exceeding the previous record of 125,159.48MWh set last month.
“A new record for maximum daily energy generation in Nigeria was also set yesterday, with a total of 125,542.06MWh. This surpasses the previous record of 125,159.48MWh, achieved on 14 February 2025, by 382.58MWh,” the TCN stated.
