Violence Erupts at PDP Headquarters as Rival Supporters Clash

Tensions flared at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja on Wednesday as supporters of embattled National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and his rival Udeh Okoye clashed during a Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting.
The meeting, chaired by BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara, was attended by prominent party figures, including acting National Chairman Umar Damagun, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido.
The BoT had convened the meeting to address the ongoing leadership tussle that has split the PDP’s National Working Committee into opposing factions. However, hostilities erupted when supporters from both camps engaged in a physical altercation, disrupting the proceedings.
In response, security at the PDP headquarters, Wadata Plaza, was significantly reinforced. Officers of the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) were deployed in large numbers, alongside personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and soldiers stationed at the venue to restore order.
