Mohbad’s Father Sought Early Burial After Cash Gift, Witness Aleges

Adeyemo Boluwatife, the personal assistant to the late singer Mohbad, has claimed that the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, demanded his son’s immediate burial after receiving a ₦2 million donation from music star Davido. Adeyemo made this assertion while testifying at the Coroner’s Inquest in Ikorodu on Wednesday.
The Coroner’s Inquest, which began on 29 September 2023, was initiated by the Lagos State Government to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Mohbad passed away on 12 September 2023 under suspicious circumstances and was buried the following day. Due to nationwide calls for justice, his body was exhumed on 21 September 2023 for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
During Wednesday’s court session, Adeyemo, who is also Mohbad’s nephew, testified before the Ikorodu Magistrate Court that the singer’s father insisted on the immediate burial after receiving the ₦2 million donation from Davido.
Adeyemo further revealed that he transferred ₦1 million to Mr. Aloba and gave the remaining amount to Adura, Mohbad’s younger brother, after settling hospital bills and ambulance fees. He also disclosed that investigators took possession of the deceased’s phone following his death.
