Akpabio To Nigerians: Nigeria’s Economic Woes Not Caused by Tinubu

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has stated that the current social and economic difficulties facing Nigeria are not the result of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Akpabio attributed the suffering to previous governments’ failure to implement necessary economic reforms in a timely manner.

Speaking at the weekend during the UNICAL ’87 Law Class Reunion in Calabar, Akpabio reassured Nigerians that the current administration would leave a lasting legacy that would secure the future.

“The challenges we face today are the outcome of years of mismanagement,” Akpabio said. “Any nation lacking in critical infrastructure and failing to save for tough times will inevitably suffer during global economic crises, like the one we are experiencing.”

He expressed hope for the future, adding, “Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel. What we are doing now is for posterity, not for ourselves. This administration will leave behind enduring legacies.”

Akpabio also led his former classmates on courtesy visits to the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, and UNICAL’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi.

The Vice Chancellor outlined several challenges faced by the institution, particularly in terms of infrastructure. Akpabio announced on behalf of the ’87 Law Class the donation of two Coaster buses for the Faculty of Law and the university’s Student Union Government.

Governor Otu, also a UNICAL alumnus, pledged to partner with the ’87 Law Class on their initiatives to support the institution. “We will add to whatever you plan to do for the university,” Otu said.

Justice Okon Abang, a member of the ’87 Law Class and a Court of Appeal judge, also remarked that the journey of his former classmates had been filled with challenges, but they had come a long way.
