David Mark, Aregbesola Take Over ADC Leadership as Opposition Rallies for 2027

Former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Nwosu, has officially handed over the party’s leadership and presented its membership cards to former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Mark and Aregbesola have been appointed interim National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, respectively.
The handover took place at a high-level opposition coalition meeting held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, as the coalition strategises ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In attendance were prominent opposition figures, including the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi; former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Also present were Senator Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, publisher Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, and LP Senator Ireti Kingibe. Others included former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.).
The coalition adopted the ADC as its unified platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
Mark, who recently resigned his PDP membership, and Aregbesola, formerly of the APC, are expected to steer the ADC’s transition into a broader opposition vehicle ahead of 2027.
