Victor Osimhen Agrees to Season-Long Loan Move to Galatasaray

Nigerian Super Eagles striker and Napoli’s all-time top scorer, Victor Osimhen, has been spotted looking cheerful in a viral video following a frustrating summer transfer saga.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, Osimhen was targeted by top European clubs, including PSG, Manchester United, and Chelsea. However, negotiations fell through as these clubs were unwilling to meet Napoli’s high asking price and the striker’s substantial wage demands.
The transfer drama dragged on until the deadline, with several clubs pulling out of the race due to Osimhen’s wage demands, which were deemed unfeasible. The wage issue was a significant stumbling block in his potential move to Chelsea, as the Premier League club was unwilling to match the Nigerian striker’s financial expectations.
Now, at 25 years old, Osimhen is poised to complete a move to the Turkish Super Lig, having agreed to Galatasaray’s proposal.
Following his contract extension last summer, Osimhen became Napoli’s highest earner, with a weekly salary of €246,538 and an annual income of €12.82 million. This figure was more than double that of the next highest earner at the time, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who earns €5.56 million annually. Osimhen has insisted that any club interested in signing him must match his current wages during negotiations. While this demand put off Premier League giants Chelsea, Galatasaray is prepared to meet it.
The Turkish club will cover the majority of Osimhen’s wages for the duration of his one-year loan spell, reportedly agreeing to pay between €9-10 million, which is close to Osimhen’s current earnings and significantly higher than what Chelsea was reportedly offering.
