Tinubu Honours Super Eagles with National Titles and Properties

In a ceremony held on Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu bestowed national titles, one plot of land, and a flat upon each member of the Super Eagles squad who participated in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The announcement was made by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, following the team’s return to Abuja from Ivory Coast.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has awarded all members of the Team Nigeria and @NGSuperEagles, the Member of the Order of Niger (MON),” Dada posted on X.

“The President has also presented the @NGSuperEagles and Team Nigeria one flat in Nigeria and a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a sign of gratitude for their service.”

Tinubu had previously expressed his appreciation to the Super Eagles for securing the second position at the 2023 AFCON, which concluded on Sunday. Despite their best efforts, the Super Eagles were defeated 2-1 by the host nation, Ivory Coast, in the final.

William Troost-Ekong scored the opening goal for the Super Eagles, but the Elephants equalised through Franck Kessie and secured the victory with Sebastian Haller’s goal.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu praised the Super Eagles for showcasing the resilience and talent of the Nigerian people. The president commended the team for their tenacious performance in the final of the continental football showpiece in Ivory Coast.

“Let this recent event not discourage us but unite us to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love,” Tinubu said.

Addressing the aspiring Nigerian youths, Tinubu encouraged them not to relent in their pursuits, emphasising that his administration is committed to turning dreams into reality.
