What Happens When Nigeria’s Celebrities Get Candid? Chude Live Delivers Raw Moments

Nollywood filmmaker Funke Akindele, rapper Falz, comedian Bovi, and other entertainers opened up about their personal struggles and triumphs at the debut of the Chude Live Conversation Show on Sunday.
Hosted by entrepreneur and storyteller Chude Jideonwo, the show aims to blend humour, vulnerability, and healing in a space where young Nigerians feel seen and heard.
Jideonwo described the live format as a platform where impactful stories meet laughter and reflection.
Akindele, speaking candidly, recounted the emotional toll of social media bullying, including comments mocking her marital history. “I cried endlessly. Eventually, I reached out for help. Therapy gave me the strength to face challenges head-on,” she said.
She revealed how these experiences inspired her storytelling, even leading to the production of a film. “I almost broke down mentally, but I channelled the pain into creativity,” she noted.
She also highlighted her desire to mentor emerging filmmakers and nurture future Nollywood stars.
Social media personality and influencer Kiekie expressed her joy at being part of the show. “I love engaging in live conversations, especially about career and industry topics,” she said.
Falz, reflecting on his role in the EndSARS protests, said it was a defining period in his life. “It was one of the toughest moments, but I have no regrets. I’m proud to have been part of the movement.”
Other notable speakers included Pastor Jerry Eze, fashion influencer Veekee James, gospel artiste Moses Bliss, skit maker Taaooma, and actress Hauwa Lawal, all of whom shared how they navigate fame, mental health, and public scrutiny.
The event brought together creatives committed to authentic storytelling and emotional wellness.
