Super Eagles Beat 10-Man Mozambique 3-2 as Moffi, Simon Shine

The Super Eagles secured a 3-2 victory against Mozambique in an international friendly as their opponents were reduced to 10 players. Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka, and Moses Simon were the heroes of the match.

The victory marked the first time the Super Eagles won a friendly match in 55 months, dating back to March 2019 when they defeated Egypt 1-0 with a goal by Paul Onuachu at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

Mozambique surprised Nigeria with an early goal, as Catamo found the net in the sixth minute by skillfully dribbling past the Nigerian goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho. However, France-based striker Terem Moffi leveled the score in the 19th minute. Frank Onyeka then put Nigeria ahead in the 30th minute with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box.

The Super Eagles, adopting the motto “Let’s Do It Again” for their pursuit of a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title, dominated the game and secured a third goal when Moses Simon successfully converted a penalty in added time of the first half.

Mozambique, despite being down to 10 players following a red card in the first half, managed to score a second goal through Bangal ten minutes into the second half. This victory showcased the Super Eagles’ winning mentality ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, starting in November, and the 43rd Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
