How to get good sleep on an Airplane

Airplanes aren’t designed for a restful sleep, but sometimes we need to sleep well on them.
Follow these four tips the next time you need to sleep on a plane so you can wake up feeling refreshed.
1. Avoid drinking coffee or alcohol on the flight, even if it’s free. Although alcohol may help you get to sleep, it won’t be deep sleep and you will likely wake up multiple times.
2. If you need peace and quiet to sleep then don’t sit at the very front or back of the plane. These are the busiest areas of the plane, so there will be constant noise, the extra legroom really isn’t worth it. The best place to sit on the plane if you need to sleep is in the middle section.
3. To get a good sleep on an airplane you need to know what position you prefer to sleep in. Many airlines now allow passengers to pick their seats online when doing online check-in.
4. To avoid head, neck, and shoulder pain invest in a neck pillow, especially if you travel a lot. It may be annoying to have another item to carry around with you, but the extra comfort when sleeping makes it worth it.
