NECO Announces 2024 Common Entrance Exam Results

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for candidates seeking admission into Federal Government Colleges. Additionally, the results for the 2024 entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy in Suleja, Niger State, have also been announced.

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Sununu, made the announcement at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday. He disclosed that 71,291 candidates registered for the 2024 NCEE, with 66,931 candidates sitting for the examination, while 4,360 were absent.

“Out of a maximum score of 210, one candidate achieved the highest score of 203, while 13 candidates scored the lowest with just 1,” Sununu revealed. He noted that this year saw an unprecedented number of 52 candidates (two from Lagos State and 50 from Rivers State) involved in examination malpractice.

Similarly, Sununu reported that for the Federal Government Academy (FGA) examination, 2,649 candidates registered, 2,336 candidates sat for the exam, and 313 were absent. The highest score was 180, while the lowest was 5.

The Minister reaffirmed that the criteria for selecting qualified candidates into Federal Unity Colleges remain unchanged: 60% Merit, 30% Equality of State, and 10% Exigency. He instructed the Senior Secondary Education Department of the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that all admission processes are completed promptly and in accordance with these criteria.

Sununu also reassured parents that the government is committed to improving infrastructural development, feeding, and teacher quality to enhance teaching and learning in Nigeria’s colleges.
