Zenith Tech Fair Wraps Up as Hackathon Winners Win Big

The Third Edition of the Zenith Bank Tech Fair, themed “Future Forward 3.0”, concluded at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on November 23rd and 24th, 2023.

Over 500 contestants participated in the Zenith Hackathon (Zecathon), where Sync, a team collaboration and workflow management platform, emerged as the winner, receiving a grand prize of N20 million. Additionally, they earned a mentorship program with Seedstars, focused on empowering entrepreneurs in emerging markets.

The first runner-up, Skill Up With Kahdsole (SUWK), a social-tech startup facilitating learning technical and vocational skills, secured N15 million and a mentorship program with Seedstars. The second runner-up, Tribapay, a payment processing gateway for Nigeria and Ghana, received N10 million and a mentorship program with Seedstars.

Other finalists, including Edupoint, Joovlin, Frootify, Izesan Limited, Natal Cares, Plychain.io, and Niteon, each received N2 million.

Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, the Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank Plc, expressed excitement about the Hackathon, highlighting it as the event’s pinnacle. He emphasized the innovation and talent showcased by the youth and envisioned expanding the event to showcase winners’ journeys and progress.

The Tech Fair spanned two days and covered diverse technological innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, Contactless Payments, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, FinTech, Data Analytics, Financial Intelligence, and communication technologies. Chris Lu, an IT Specialist from Huawei Technologies, Nigeria, delivered the keynote address on “Artificial Intelligence – Application & Bias”.

Eminent IT practitioners from global brands made presentations, including experts from Amazon Web Services, Deloitte, Visa, CBN, UiPath, McKinsey Digital, Microsoft, Cinemax, Terragon, among others.

Two panel sessions addressed topics like “Digital Wallets, Contactless payments, and BNPL” and “The intersection of Fintech, eCommerce, and SMEs – Collaboration for growth”. The panels featured industry leaders discussing the future of payments, Fintech, eCommerce, and collaborations for SME growth.
