Bayern Munich to Part Ways with Tuchel at Season’s End

Bayern Munich has announced the departure of manager Thomas Tuchel at the conclusion of the current season, following a series of disappointing results. The decision comes after Bayern’s recent setbacks, including a 3-0 loss to league leaders Bayern Leverkusen, a 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the Champions League, and a shocking 3-2 setback against VFL Bochum.
This season’s struggles have put Bayern at risk of finishing trophyless for the first time since 2011-12, prompting the club to part ways with Tuchel. In a statement on the club’s website, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen expressed the need for a sporting realignment and the appointment of a new coach for the 2024-25 season.
Tuchel, who joined Bayern in March 2023, acknowledged the mutual decision and pledged to continue striving for success until the end of the season. Despite having a contract until June 2025, the club has decided to conclude the collaboration a year earlier.
Reports from BILD suggest a dressing room divide in Munich, with six key players, including Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry, and Leon Goretzka, opposing Tuchel, while another six, including Harry Kane, Eric Dier, and Leroy Sane, support the manager’s authority. The situation adds a layer of complexity to Tuchel’s tenure as Bayern looks to salvage their season in the Champions League and Bundesliga.
