‘Free My Son!’— 2Baba’s Mother Begs Lawmaker to End Engagement

The mother of Nigerian music icon 2Baba, Rose Idibia, has expressed deep concern over her son’s recent engagement to Edo lawmaker, Natasha Osarawu, stating that he is “clearly not in his right senses.”

“My son is currently going through a divorce, and he is clearly not himself. I know my son—this is not him,” Mrs Idibia said in a viral video posted on the Instagram handle of 2Baba’s younger brother, Charles Idibia.

Earlier in February, 2Baba confirmed his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia, and later announced his intention to marry Osarawu. The singer has also reiterated his commitment to the lawmaker, dismissing speculations that she played any role in his marital crisis with Annie.

A viral video on Thursday captured the moment 2Baba proposed to Osarawu. In the footage, the visibly excited singer embraced the lawmaker, showered her with money, and danced with her before presenting an engagement ring while friends and well-wishers cheered.

However, in the same video, a visibly distressed Mrs Idibia pleaded with concerned Nigerian mothers to appeal to the lawmaker to release her son from what she believes is an undue influence.

“This message is for Ms Natasha Osarawu of Edo State. I am calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to release my son.

“Please, Natasha, the beads you have placed on his hand and around his neck—remove them and set him free.”

As of the time of this report, Ms Osarawu has yet to respond to the plea.
