Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Celebrate Lookman and Nnadozie’s CAF Awards Success

President Bola Tinubu and other prominent Nigerians have congratulated Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman and Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for their triumphs at the 2024 CAF Awards.

Lookman was named CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year, while Nnadozie won the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Super Falcons were also recognised as Women’s National Team of the Year.

In a statement by his media adviser, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the athletes as “worthy ambassadors” whose determination and talent have brought honour to the nation.

“These athletes embody the Nigerian spirit and showcase the best of us. Thank you for making Nigeria proud and keeping our flag flying,” Tinubu said.

The President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also congratulated the winners, highlighting their achievements as a testament to their dedication and passion for football.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the athletes as “worthy ambassadors,” commending Lookman and Nnadozie for their individual accolades and hailing the Super Falcons for their team success.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also joined in the celebrations, applauding Lookman’s skills and Nnadozie’s inspiring performances, which he said serve as a beacon for young Nigerian girls.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma lauded Nnadozie as a true ambassador of the state and Africa, urging her to continue setting new standards.

Meanwhile, the First Lady launched the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Elderly Support Scheme, disbursing ₦1.9 billion to elderly citizens across the nation. Each beneficiary received ₦200,000, along with free medical check-ups and other items.
