Tinubu Endorsements Stir Crisis in PDP as Party Issues Stern Warning
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned members endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid to desist or face tougher sanctions.
In a statement on Friday, National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba said such endorsements were anti-party activities and a violation of the PDP constitution.
Citing Section 10(6) of the constitution, he reminded members that no one is permitted to align with other parties in a way that undermines the PDP or its elected governments.
The National Working Committee (NWC) expressed concern over recent public declarations of support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and warned that such conduct was weakening the party’s unity and electoral chances.
The NWC urged members to remain loyal and focus on preparations for the PDP National Convention scheduled for 15–16 November 2025 in Ibadan.
The warning follows public endorsements of President Tinubu by prominent PDP figures, including former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose and Osun governor Ademola Adeleke.
