Yuletide Cheer: Zenith Bank’s Annual Light-Up Draws Visitors to Ajose Adeogun Street

n line with its long-standing tradition, Zenith Bank has once again ushered in the Christmas season with the grand illumination of Ajose Adeogun Street and Roundabout in Victoria Island, Lagos. The lighting ceremony, held on Saturday, 23 November 2024, was led by the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame (Dr) Adaora Umeoji, OON.

This annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, now in its 18th year, transforms the bank’s corporate headquarters area into a dazzling Christmas wonderland. The vibrant decorations have become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors who come to capture memorable moments with their families and friends.

Speaking at the event, Dame Umeoji expressed the bank’s dedication to creating a festive atmosphere that resonates globally. “Over the years, Zenith Bank has hosted this spectacular event, transforming Ajose Adeogun Street into a breathtaking yuletide wonderland. Our elaborate decorations have become a focal point, widely shared on social media. As we light up the street tonight, we celebrate the essence of Christmas and reaffirm our commitment to CSR. Our customers remain central to everything we do at Zenith Bank,” she said.

She encouraged attendees to embrace the spirit of Christmas—love, kindness, and generosity—and acknowledged the Lagos State Government for fostering an environment that supports such initiatives.

Dame Umeoji also commended Quantum Markets for their role in the decoration. “I want to thank the team at Quantum Markets for their creativity and innovation. Each year, they outdo themselves, and we eagerly anticipate their work,” she remarked.

Zenith Bank’s CSR philosophy extends beyond aesthetics. The bank is committed to driving economic, cultural, and social development in its host communities. Its sustainability initiatives reflect a balanced scorecard approach, recognising that financial success must be accompanied by tangible social and environmental contributions.

These efforts have earned Zenith Bank numerous accolades, including being named the “Most Sustainable Bank, Nigeria” at the International Banker Banking Awards in 2023 and 2024, and “Most Responsible Organisation in Africa” at the 2021 Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility (SERAS) Awards.
