President Bola Tinubu Reflects on Presidential Election and Invoking “Emil’okan” Spirit

President Bola Tinubu revealed on Thursday that he drew upon the spirit of “Emilokan” twice before the presidential election on February 25, in order to overcome obstacles.
Speaking in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, President Tinubu expressed his optimism and determination to achieve victory in the election, despite the challenges posed by the ineffective implementation of the cashless policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
During his visit to the palaces of the Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, as part of a thank-you visit to the Royal Fathers, President Tinubu reflected on the difficulties leading up to the 2023 presidential election.
He shared his concerns about fund confiscation and the failures of the cashless policy. President Tinubu recounted seeking wisdom and guidance from Oba Adetona during his visit to the palace.
President Tinubu explained that he invoked the spirits of freedom and determination, embodied by “Baba Emilokan,” to overcome the obstacles encountered during the election. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Dele Alake, President Tinubu emphasized the challenges faced, including the confiscation of funds and the shortcomings of the cashless policy.
He reiterated his invocation of the spirit of “Baba Emilokan,” symbolizing frankness and decisiveness, as well as the unwavering resolve to carry out the election and emerge victorious, regardless of financial constraints.
President Tinubu’s visit to the royal palaces and his invocation of the “Emilokan” spirit underscore his determination and belief in overcoming challenges to achieve electoral success.
