Power Supply Restored in North as TCN Completes Line Repairs

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply via its 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line as of 4:56 pm on Wednesday. This follows repairs on a vandalised section of the line, according to a statement by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah.
“With the restoration of this line, the Apir-Lafia 330kV transmission line is also now operational. Bulk power transmission has been restored to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe,” the statement noted. Mbah added that TCN’s engineering team is set to commence work on a second 330kV transmission line. All materials are ready, and the site will soon be secured to ensure the safety of personnel for further repairs on the vandalised section.
Meanwhile, TCN linesmen are re-patrolling the 330kV line to prevent further disruption as repairs progress. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our consumers as our engineers work diligently to restore the 330kV line. TCN is committed to completing the repairs promptly to improve bulk power availability in the affected areas,” the statement added.
The northern region has experienced a power outage lasting over a week due to the tripping of the 330kV transmission line between Benue and Enugu, which also affected the Shiroro-Kaduna line. This has disrupted power supply in Kano, Gombe, Kebbi, Jos, Kaduna, Benue, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Yobe.
