Osun killing: Adeleke moves to reclaim motor parks from warring groups
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the state Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest all those involved in the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as “Emir Ajagungbade”.
Adeleke, who said the incident stemmed from an alleged leadership tussle over motor parks, also directed warring groups to immediately vacate the parks and ordered the reintroduction of a Park Management System.
The governor further directed security agencies to restore normalcy across the motor parks and ensure that law and order were maintained throughout the state.
He said he would issue an executive order to establish the Park Management System, which is intended to restore discipline and orderliness across motor parks in the state.
“The governor charged the Commissioner of Police to act immediately to arrest all those involved. Law and order must be maintained. There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book,” a statement signed by his aide, Olawale Rasheed, read in part.
The governor urged members of the public to remain calm, assuring them that the government would work to restore peace in all affected parks and areas.
“We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas. The security agencies are under instruction to ensure the sustainability of peace at all costs,” he said.
“We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state.”
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command said it had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Oyeyemi in Ile-Ife on September 13, 2026.
The command said it was alerted to an incident around Energy Filling Station in Ile-Ife, following which operatives were deployed to restore normalcy, secure the scene, and commence an investigation.
It added that investigators were working to establish the immediate and underlying causes of the shooting, identify those responsible, and bring all persons found culpable to justice.
