FBI Arrests Nine in Nigeria Over Cybercrime, Seizes 53 Electronic Devices
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested nine suspects in connection with scam centres operating across Nigeria.
In a statement on Monday, FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators had also identified $11m in potentially freezable funds across multiple countries.
According to Patel, the suspects operated scam centres in Nigeria, exploiting unsuspecting victims, stealing their life savings, and conducting their activities across international borders while “believing they are beyond the reach of law enforcement”.
“They’re wrong,” the FBI said.
Patel thanked Nigerian law enforcement agencies and the bureau’s partners in London for their outstanding cooperation.
