Fayemi Refutes Amaechi’s ADC Claim, Reaffirms Loyalty to APC
The media office of former Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has denied claims attributed to former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, that both men founded the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
In a statement on Sunday, Head of Fayemi’s Media Office, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, said no credible evidence, including videos or reputable media reports, supported the claim.
He described the report as “possibly fabricated or misquoted” and urged the public to beware of social media-driven misinformation.
Sajoh stressed that Fayemi remains a committed leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and has publicly endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for re-election under the party’s banner.
While acknowledging that Fayemi engages in cross-party discussions on national development, Sajoh said such interactions do not amount to defection. He attributed speculation over Fayemi’s political loyalty to his limited national presence due to academic commitments at King’s College London and work with the Amandla Institute.
He emphasised that Fayemi attends APC leadership caucus meetings in Ekiti and has consistently reaffirmed his dedication to the party’s progressive ideals.
“We urge the public to treat any news concerning Dr Fayemi with caution, especially when it originates solely from social media,” he said.
