2027 in Sight: APC Says Landmark Victories Show Nigerians Still Trust Tinubu
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described Saturday’s by-elections as a landmark reaffirmation of the party’s dominance and President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
APC spokesman in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, said in a statement on Sunday that winning 12 of the 16 contested seats reflected nationwide confidence in Tinubu’s government and the party’s renewed direction.
He noted that the elections marked the first outing under new National Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, praising his “strategic direction and grassroots engagement” for contributing to the sweeping victories.
“The results are more than statistics; they symbolise the trust Nigerians have placed in Tinubu’s administration,” Oladejo said. He argued that the outcome served as a referendum on Tinubu’s governance, particularly amid economic reforms and security challenges.
APC secured victories in the Edo Central Senatorial race, as well as House and Assembly seats in Kaduna, Jigawa, Ogun, and Edo. The PDP won one seat in Oyo, the NNPP held on to one seat in Kano, and APGA secured two in Anambra.
Oladejo noted that the Labour Party and ADC failed to win any seat, describing them as “media-driven movements without grassroots structures.”
“With APC dominance reaffirmed, the stage is set for 2027,” he said. “When that time comes, Nigerians will remember who stood firm in uncertainty, who led with courage, and who delivered results.”
