Poll: Supreme Court Reserves Judgment in Case Against Tinubu’s Election

The Supreme Court has reserved its judgment in two appeals challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu. The appeals were filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as well as the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
Atiku and Obi’s legal representatives urged the court to nullify Tinubu’s election, while the respondents called on the court to reject the appeals and uphold the decision of the presidential election tribunal, which affirmed Tinubu as President.
In a separate development, the Allied People’s Movement (APM) withdrew its appeal, resulting in its dismissal by the apex court. Justice Okoro, presiding over the case, reminded the counsel that the Supreme Court had previously addressed the issue, and the appeal was redundant.
The APM’s petition had sought Tinubu’s disqualification on the grounds of an alleged unlawful and double nomination of his vice-presidential candidate. Details will follow as the case progresses.
