Kwam 1’s No-Fly Ban and Pilots’ Suspension Reduced to One Month
The Federal Government has reduced the indefinite no-fly ban on Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, to one month. The licenses of the pilot and co-pilot involved in the ValueJet incident have also been restored after a similar one-month suspension.
In a statement on Wednesday, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo confirmed the decision, stating it followed extensive consultations with stakeholders in the aviation sector.

The minister’s intervention marks a shift from the initial punitive measures taken after the August 5, 2025, incident where Kwam 1 reportedly attempted to halt a ValueJet aircraft from moving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had initially placed an indefinite no-fly ban on the singer and sought a criminal investigation and prosecution against him. However, the minister has since announced that the criminal complaints lodged against Kwam 1 have been withdrawn.
Keyamo’s statement also revealed a surprising new role for the singer. “FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” the statement read. The minister noted that the NCAA was withdrawing its criminal complaints after the singer publicly demonstrated penitence.
