‘I’ve Had Enough’: Ademola Lookman’s Emotional Exit Plea to Atalanta

Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has formally requested a transfer from Serie A side Atalanta, alleging the club reneged on an agreement to allow him to leave if a fair offer was received.

In a statement posted on Instagram on Sunday, Lookman expressed his disappointment over what he described as “months of broken promises” and “poor treatment” by the club, despite his contributions and loyalty.

“Despite receiving an offer that aligns with our previous discussions, the club is blocking the move without explanation,” Lookman wrote. “After everything I’ve given to this club, I feel I have no choice but to speak out.”

The 26-year-old forward, who joined Atalanta in 2022 for €15 million, was instrumental in their 2023–24 UEFA Europa League triumph. He also became the first active Atalanta player nominated for the Ballon d’Or and was crowned CAF African Footballer of the Year in 2024.

Reflecting on his time at the club, he wrote: “This place felt like home. I’ve played with pride, passion, and commitment—even during difficult times behind the scenes.”

He claimed that both he and club management had previously agreed it was time for a move. “They assured me that if a fair offer came in, they would not stand in the way. That agreement has not been honoured.”

Lookman concluded by apologising to the fans and expressed hope that a peaceful resolution could still be achieved.
