‘We Are Intact’: Umo Eno Dispels Rumours as Politics Heats Up

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dismissed a viral video purportedly released by a member of his family regarding the death of his wife, describing it as a politically motivated distraction.

Speaking to Government House correspondents upon his arrival at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort in Uyo for the 60th birthday celebration of former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere, Eno maintained that his family remains united.

“We are in political times, so such distractions are to be expected. My family is intact—you can see everyone here with me,” he said.

“The event in question happened shortly after my wife passed away last year. Why is it resurfacing now, just as we mark the second anniversary of this administration and reflect on our achievements?”

The governor suggested that the video’s timing points to political mischief and urged the public not to allow it to rekindle painful memories. “It is enough that I lost my wife. Let her soul rest. I cannot be distracted,” he added.

Eno also addressed the trauma faced by bereaved families, particularly children, and appealed for public empathy.

He extended warm wishes to Nsima Ekere on his milestone birthday, praying for his continued strength, good health, and wisdom to contribute further to state and national development.
