Can I Borrow Your Gown? Omoni’s Funny Plea Sparks Online Buzz
Nigerian actress and film producer Omoni Oboli has sparked laughter and admiration on social media with a humorous post following the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
In a playful message shared on her Instagram handle, @omonioboli, she wrote: “Now that AMVCA is over, please I need a favour; those clothes people wore, can they borrow me? I need to shoot a big wedding scene in a movie and they will be nice as costume.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the post attracted numerous reactions, with fans and colleagues praising her creative thinking and business acumen.
Many responded with emojis, jokes, and offers to help. One follower, @mbasitijesse, asked if she needed help tagging the celebrities. Another, @menathomaz, quipped that all the celebrities should simply show up for the wedding scene.
Meanwhile, @ify_o volunteered to start gathering outfits if they were for “Odogwu and Achalugo’s wedding” – a reference to the lead characters in Oboli’s hit film Love in Every Word.
The romantic drama, released on YouTube in March, has amassed over 24 million views in just two months. The characters, Obiora and Chioma – nicknamed “Odogwu” and “Achalugo” – have become fan favourites.
While it remains uncertain if any celebrities will donate their red-carpet outfits, Oboli’s light-hearted post draws subtle attention to the high cost and artistic value of film production and fashion in Nollywood.
