Thousands Lose Land Titles in Abuja as Wike Cracks Down on Defaulters

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land titles of 4,794 property owners across ten districts of Abuja due to non-payment of ground rent for over ten years.
The Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the FCT Administration’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to Olayinka, a total of 8,375 property owners owe the FCT Administration (FCTA) over six billion naira in outstanding ground rent payments.
He further announced an extension of the grace period for more than 3,500 landowners to settle their debts or face revocation.
The affected areas include the Central Business District, Garki 1 and 2, Wuse 1 and 2, Maitama, Asokoro, and Guzape.
