Singer Portable Wanted for Role in Attack on Government Officials
The Ogun State Police Command has declared controversial singer Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, wanted for allegedly leading a violent attack on government officials carrying out their lawful duties.
The police made the announcement in an official gazette on Monday night, which was shared by the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on 5th February 2025 at approximately 10:00 a.m. Three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota, when they encountered an elderly man at a location known as Odogwu Bar. The man was later identified as Portable’s father.
After introducing themselves and requesting to see the approved building plan for the premises, the officials were informed that Portable was unavailable.
However, moments later, the singer reportedly arrived at the scene, armed with a firearm and accompanied by nine thugs. They allegedly launched a violent attack on the unarmed officials, leaving them with multiple injuries before they managed to escape and report the incident to the Ota Area Command. The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
Following Portable’s repeated failure to honour police invitations, the Ogun State Police Command obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted.
“The Ogun State Police Command hereby declares Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, known as ‘Portable’, wanted for his involvement in a violent attack on government officials performing their lawful duties,” the statement read.
The police warned that anyone found aiding or harbouring the singer would face legal consequences.
“We urge members of the public to provide any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest. For relevant information, please report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels.”
While nine of Portable’s alleged accomplices have been arrested, the singer remains at large. The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
