Court Remands Naira Marley and Sam Larry Over Mohbad’s Death

A Magistrate Court located in Yaba, Lagos State, has issued an order to remand Azeez Fashola, famously known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, in police custody for a period of 21 days.

The Lagos State Police Command had initially requested a 30-day custody period to conduct their investigation, but Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ruled in favor of a 21-day remand.

The backdrop of this case is the unfortunate demise of Mohbad, which occurred on September 12, 2023, in Lagos, followed by his burial the next day. However, allegations linking Naira Marley and Sam Larry to Mohbad’s death were vehemently denied by the accused parties.

Mohbad’s departure from Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley, last year was marked by controversy, and his relationship with his former boss remained strained afterward.

In response to the allegations, the police summoned Naira Marley and Sam Larry and subsequently presented them before a Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, Lagos, on Wednesday. The court granted the police’s request for a 21-day custody period to facilitate their investigation.

In a related development, the Lagos State Police Command has declared Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, wanted for failing to respond to an invitation regarding Mohbad’s death. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, made this announcement in a statement released on Wednesday.

We will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
