President Tinubu’s Ministerial List: Meet The Nominated Women

During his inaugural speech shortly after his swearing-in to office, President Bola Tinubu promised to feature women and youth “prominently” in his administration.

On Thursday, President Tinubu transmitted his first batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

The list contains 28 nominees for various positions from across the country.

Off the 28 nominees, a quarter of the nominees are women.

They are Hannatu Musawa, Betta Edu, Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite, Nkiru Onyeojiocha, Stella Okotete, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, and Iman Suleiman Ibrahim.

Outlook Nigeria presents brief profiles of the seven women that made the list:

  1. Hanatu Musawa

A former deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council was recently appointed Special Adviser on Culture and Entertainment Economy by the President.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Buckingham, UK, and took a master’s degree in the Legal Aspects of Marine Affairs from the University of Cardiff, Wales.

She also has a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen.

She is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

  1. Beta Edu

The immediate past Commissioner for Health in Cross River State is a graduate of medicine and surgery from the University of Calabar, Cross River State.

Edu became the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in March 2022 after defeating her opponent by 2,662 to 117 votes at the APC National Convention.

  1. Hon Nkiru Onyejeocha

Hon Nkiru Onyejeocha has a diploma in Social Work/Community Development and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She also holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Imo State University and a Master’s Degree in Shipping from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo State. She has been in politics since 1999.

  1. Stella Okotete

Stella Okotete is a graduate from Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, where she majored in International Studies and Diplomacy.

She was appointed the Executive Director (Business Development) at the Nigeria Export and Import Bank (NEXIM) by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

She also served as the Special Assistant and Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

  1. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye

She was the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s only female presidential candidate but later withdrew to back President Bola Tinubu. She is a legal practitioner and businesswoman based in Abuja.

  1. Iman Suleiman Ibrahim

Iman Suleiman Ibrahim is a graduate of the University of Abuja with a degree in sociology.

She was the director-general of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) between 2020 and 2021.

In 2021, she was redeployed as the Honourable Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

  1. Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite

Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite is the current Imo State Commissioner for Finance. She has also served as the SA Presidential Policy Advisory Council (National Economy). She has a background in the finance sector.

She was also a former General Manager of Zenith Bank Plc.
