The Nigeria Police Force has announced disciplinary action against officers filmed in a viral video receiving money from Chinese nationals.

The footage, widely circulated on social media, shows several Chinese individuals handing out Naira notes to uniformed and armed police officers lined up in formation. The video has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians expressing disappointment and demanding urgent reforms within the Force.

In the video, the cash handover appeared organised and deliberate, raising concerns about professional conduct and ethical standards within the police ranks.

Reacting to the development on Thursday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, described the officers’ conduct as both unprofessional and unethical. He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding integrity, professionalism, and public trust.

“The Nigeria Police Force has taken cognisance of a disturbing video circulating online, which shows officers receiving money from a Chinese national,” Adejobi said in a statement.

“The Force strongly condemns the conduct exhibited by the officers in the video, labelling it as unprofessional and unethical. Such actions do not reflect the core values, ethics, and standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The officers identified in the video have been placed under disciplinary proceedings.”
